Privacy Policy
Last updated 8 October 2026
This policy explains what the Across Android app and the website at getacross.app collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and how to delete it. Across is made by Zetahertz (“we”, “us”). It is the product-specific notice that the Zetahertz Privacy Policy allows for; where the two differ about Across, this one applies. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your data for advertising.
01What we collect
- Account details. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture link, and we create an Across account ID.
- What you set up. The feeds you add (including OPML imports), your views, the topics and languages you choose, your bookmarks, and your settings.
- Reading activity. The articles you open, how long you read and how far you scroll, stories shown to you on Home, the more- or less-like-this feedback you give, My Radio and Across Daily listening, and usage counts for your plan’s limits.
- Searches. Search terms are sent to our servers to return results. We do not save them to your account, but our server logs can briefly record them along with other request details.
- Purchases. If you subscribe, your Google Play order number, purchase token, and subscription status. Google handles payment; we never see your card details.
- Product analytics. Which features you use and which articles and sources you open, linked to your account ID once you sign in, and to a random ID for your installation before that. Our analytics provider receives your IP address and may use it to estimate your country and city.
- Diagnostics. Crash reports and performance data — device model, Android version, app version, and your account ID.
- On the website. Cookies that keep you signed in to the web app, a theme preference stored in your browser, and your email address if you ask to hear when Across for iOS launches.
- Website analytics. Which pages of getacross.app you visit, how you arrived, which download links you click, page load performance, and your browser, device type, and approximate location. We use no cookies or browser storage for this. If you are not signed in, you are counted with an anonymous identifier derived from your IP address and browser that resets every day. If you are signed in to the web app, this is linked to your account ID, as it is in the app.
- When you contact us. Your email address and whatever you include in your message.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos or media, your microphone or camera, or your device’s advertising ID.
02How we use it
- To run Across: sign you in, sync your feeds, views, bookmarks, and history across your devices, and enforce plan limits.
- To recommend stories on Home. Recommendations use the topics and languages you choose, your feedback, and your reading activity. Your Feed stays in plain newest-first order and is never ranked.
- To manage subscriptions and check purchases with Google Play.
- To understand how Across is used, and to find and fix bugs.
- To answer your messages and provide support.
- To keep Across secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
03AI features
Article summaries, My Radio, and Across Daily are generated on our servers. To produce them we send article text — content published by the sources you read — to AI model and text-to-speech providers. We do not send your name, email, or account ID with it.
04Who processes your data
We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes. These service providers process it on our behalf and under our instructions:
- Google — Google Sign-In and Google Play Billing.
- Railway — hosting for our servers and database.
- PostHog — product analytics for the app and the website, stored in its EU region.
- Sentry — crash reporting and performance monitoring.
- AI and speech providers — model providers reached through OpenRouter, and text-to-speech providers, for the features in section 3. They receive article text only.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.
05Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. This immediately and permanently removes your account and everything linked to it from our database: your profile, feeds, views, bookmarks, reading history, preferences, and recommendation data.
Without the app, email support@zetahertz.com from your account’s email address, or follow the steps on the account & data deletion page. We confirm within 72 hours and finish within 30 days.
Analytics and crash records are held by PostHog and Sentry against your account ID, not your name or email. To have those deleted as well, email us and we will remove them. We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Encrypted backups are overwritten within 90 days.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription — cancel it in Google Play first.
06Security
All data is encrypted in transit. Access to our systems is restricted and we use established infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and respond quickly to any incident.
07Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict some processing, and to withdraw consent. Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on contract (to provide Across), legitimate interests (to secure and improve it), and legal obligation. To exercise any right, email support@zetahertz.com. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.
08International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where the law requires it, we put appropriate safeguards in place.
09Children
Across is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
10Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app or by email when a change is significant.
